What Now?
I know a lot of people are skeptical about meditation but there are many different types to explore and I feel that if a person truly can see the value of relaxing their mind and controlling their thoughts, they will put in the effort to find a form of meditation that they are comfortable with. Meditation does not have to be associated with a particular religion and if you are worried about
what other people think, just don’t tell them that you meditate! This is something that is for you alone and can remain private while still being extremely effective. In fact, it may be even more effective if it remains private so you don’t have the added negative thoughts about peoples’ opinions popping into your head during your meditation sessions.
So, will I continue meditating? Absolutely! I like the guided meditation CD I have but 30 minutes is a little longer than I would like to do going forward. The length is definitely manageable but sometimes the time commitment will prevent me from doing it so having a shorter option available is useful for those time-constrained days. I have practiced meditation before on my own and also for 4 intense days at Tam Wau Forest Monastery in Northern Thailand; however, I have never done it consistently for 30 days and would like to continue with this habit now that I’ve developed an excellent foundation!
If you can control your thoughts, you can control your mood. If you can control your mood, happiness becomes a choice!
